Must Love Tea

I hate the taste of tea. I've had tea once before and that was when I was a kid and was sick. Thus, I have an aversion to tea, but want to like it. I bought this yesterday:

It tastes 95% awesome except for that tea taste. I need help with ways to learn to like that tea taste. Is there a way to enjoy the acclimation process without using tons of sugar to love it (which I did today to start the process :/)?

One thing I did in the car ride to class is to say outloud, "This tastes great!" after every sip. It worked to stop the yuck! response, but I can't really do that in the middle of class.

What have you done/do you do to enjoy your tea?

  1. Yo - it's AJ. I'm in your blog, stalking your tea.
One thing I've learned from tea drinking over the years is to def take the teabag out when you're supposed to - otherwise tannins get in there and it's a bitter fuck mess. Also, as one of my British coworkers told me, tea is an INFUSION not a SOAK - so only use water that has juuuust been boiling.
I kind of like green tea taste when it's lemongrass or spearmint -y. Have you tried Tazo Zen tea? It doesn't get too bitter on ya. I also dig on the Red Tea line from The Republic of Tea, and Yogi teas, especially the green with eccinecchea (how the frak do you spell that), the kombacha one (mah fave) and the super-antioxident one

  2. I will definitely try those out and I have been absentmindedly leaving the tea bag in the water until I walk past it again. My tea fu is quite weak.
